About this tour

We invite you to spend the day out through signing up for our meticulously designed Tangier & Asilah Day Trip. I or one of my tour guide associates will meet with you in the port of Tangier or in your accommodation, then have a sightseeing tour around Tangier.

Drive from Tangier to Asilah where you’ll spend a couple of hours meandering around the intricate alleyways of this artistic city. You’ll then drive back to Tangier for lunch, then followed by a guided walking tour of the Kasbah & the old Medina.

What to expect

The Tangier & Asilah Day Trip includes a nice drive through the Ville Nouvelle that was built by the eight International Powers. The new town is divided into districts named after the countries that were behind their construction. You’ll drive through the Iberia Districts where the Mohammed V Mosque Grand Mosque is noticeable from afar. From here, you’ll drive uphill where fancy villas, mansions and palaces including the Royal Palace are located.

Our drive will lead us to the promontory Cap Spartel offering stunning views, and where it’s believed both the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Seas converge. You may want to experience the camel ride by the sandy beach of the Atlantic before heading to the pre-historic Caves of Hercules. Spend sometime enjoying the majestic views with the opening of the caves into the sea. The Caves are shrouded in mystery being linked to the Greek Mythologies.

You’ll drive through the Atlantic Coastline to the tranquil city of Assilah. This city was built by the Portuguese as fortress and the ramparts are still witnessing an era of political fluctuations. Asilah is known for its annual Festival when painter and artists from all over the world come to leave their artistic stamp on the walls of the Medina. Meander around the beautifully-painted streets before heading back to Tangier.

After lunch, you’ll have a guided walking tour of the Kasbah and the Medina. You’ll include a visit to the Kasbah Museum that was resided by the late Alaouite Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 17th century. The building is fascinating being an example of the Moroccan-Andalusian Architectures. Appreciate the local culture and the lifestyle, you’ll stop by a local communal bakery and you’ll get introduced into the role of water within every neighborhood.

Explore the vibrant Medina with its bustling Souks selling antiques, crafts, vegetables, fish, fruits, olives and much more. You’ll visit the American Legation before heading to the port or to your accommodation in Tangier.
